Videos have been found to stimulate interest and improve retention for all learners. Videos especially improve the learning experience for visual learners and those without strong reading comprehension.

As a service to our users we provide the following list of recommended websites. Each site was selected based on quality of information and its relevance to the nursing curriculum.

Instructions: Click on a link below (blue and underlined) to be connected to a new website. Before clicking on links, read any instructions in parenthesis. You may have to navigate within the new site to locate videos.To return to freenursetutor.com , click the close box in the upper right corner of the new web page.

Some videos may require you to have specific player software on your computer to work properly. A free download link may be available for the required software. Freenursetutor.com is not responsible for any downloads that you choose to accept from other sites.

 

Multiple Topic Sites These sites contain large lists of outstanding videos, slides or animations related to many of the different topics listed below.


The HealthCentral Network An incredible number of medical and health videos. (Under the heading  "Find" "Answer questions, check symptoms, find resources", click on "Video Library". Then select a listed video. Related videos will then also be shown. A second way to find desired videos is to use the "Search Our Sites" feature. Type in topic you want with the word video. For example type in "Lupus video".)

United Health Services, Video Educator Videos, Models, and Slides. (Scroll through directory and select desired topics. *For Video to play you must select "high speed" from setting menu. With Models, use control button to change model image. With Slides, use control button to advance. Click on yellow dots for explanatory text.) Great visual aides with a fantastic selection of topics.

MedlinePlus Videos of numerous surgical procedurs. (Read instructions and then scroll down to select desired videos from directory.) These videos of actual surgical procedures are the next closest thing to being there.

WebMD A huge list of health videos. (Under Videos A-Z, find the alphabet letters listed horzontally. Click on each letter to find topics starting with that letter. For example, click on H for topics about the heart. Then use both scroll bars as needed to view all topics and titles. Click on the desired title.) 

Healthology Videos for many health topics. (Directly under Index of Diseases and Conditions click the letter grouping for topics starting with those letters. Then click on a topic title. Next page, click on video title. Or, if subcategories are listed, click on desired subcategory and then click on title of available videos.) Most topics have videos, but some do not.

Ostomy Educational Theatre Videos and personal accounts from Hollister (Read the introduction and then click English or Spanish for the desired title. Then click on the desired module.) A very informative site regarding colostomy, ileostomy and urostomy care. Interviews with patients are included.
